3 Marketing Blog Tips For Creating Killer Content For Your Marketing Blog

Having a marketing blog is one of the most profitable ways to build a business. By having a central hub where you control all of the marketing, all of the advertising space, all of the information your prospects get, and most importantly the sales funnel.

So how do you create content so compelling that people keep coming back day after day after day, sharing the content on your marketing blog with all of their friends, and their friends' friends?

Glad you asked.

Here are 3 simple tips to creating compelling content for your marketing blog.

1. Tell stories - Often times people feel like they always have to be selling something in order to make money with their marketing blog. This isn't the case. People come home from work, they want to be entertained.

When you talk to your friends, do you talk about numbers, and facts, and statistics?

No, you share stories. Stories help people relate with you, but most importantly, stories bring up emotions in people that cause them to take action. If you want repeat customers, and people all over sharing the content from your marketing blog, break a great story up into 5 pieces, and tell a piece every day.

People are naturally wired to close an open loop. By telling parts of the story they will spend the whole rest of the day trying to figure out what will happen next. It's why people will continue watching a show they don't even like just because they want to know how the story ends.

In the end, you tie the story in with whatever your selling on your blog, and people will be far more likely to buy.

2. Forums - There are forums about almost any topic on the planet. People love to get together and have conversations with other like minded people. If you want killer content for your marketing blog, visit the forums.

You will see what topics get the most views, responses, clicks etc. If your target marketing is interested in something it's like them telling you, hey, talk about this on your blog.

If a few people enjoy talking about it in a forum, then when you roll it out on your marketing blog you will know that the masses are going to be salivating to find out what it is that you have to say.

3. Visit other people's blogs - If other people are talking about it, and if they are someone that is having success, then that means they are blogging about things that people are interested in.

If they have lots of comments, and likes, and shares, that means that people are interested in that topic. Don't just copy their content, but now you can go back to your own blog and talk about it in your own words.

Banner Advertising Strategies to Use If You Are Starting Out - Ways to Get Traffic From This Source

When it comes to making a lot of money online and getting a lot of visitors to your site you have to realize that banner advertising is by far one of the best sources for making this happen. The problem is that you have to make sure you know what you are doing when you start out. In this article I want to show you easy ways to get traffic to your site from this source so you can maximize your profits.

Why Getting Traffic Is Harder Then Most People Think...

One of the problems that most people have is they can't figure out how to get more visitors to their site and increase their profits. What most people do is they will simply go out and start buying banners on sites in their market and hope some of them will work out to make them a profit.

You have to realize that if you do this you are setting yourself up for failure. You have to make sure you have the right steps in place before you do this. Just because you can get visitors to your site from the banner ads in your market does not mean you are going to make a profit from those ads.

Making a profit is one of the hardest things that you can do when you are using this source in your market. Anyone can get traffic to their site, but it takes the right system to make a profit from the visitors that you are attracting.

Here Is How You Can Get Traffic To Your Site From This Source And Actually Make A Profit As Well...

First - You have to make sure you are focused on segmenting the visitors that you are getting to your site.

That means you are going to have to make sure you are focused on taking your visitors to landing pages that are targeted to the sites that you are using. If you do this you will be able to increase your conversions and get more money from the banners that you have going in your market.

Second - You have to make sure you are focused on spending time on making this source work when you first start out using it.

The more time you spend on trying to make this source work, the more results and traffic you are going to get to your site. So you have to realize that if you simply put ads up and then forget about things, you are going to waste a lot of money.

Take your time and do it right so you can get traffic to your site with this source in the market that you are in.

Should I Publish AdSense on My Website?

Many webmasters ask "should I publish AdSense on my website?" but there's no right or wrong answer to that question.

There are two schools of thought when it comes to publishing AdSense on a website. One says "do it" because it enhances the user's experience, offering them relevant adverts to click as well as making some money for the website owner while the other says "don't do it" because it's tacky and detracts from the brand.

Whether you choose to publish AdSense depends largely on the commercial goals and the purpose of your website.

Businesses which sell products do publish AdSense on their websites but this would seem to be an odd thing to do, offering the opportunity as it does, for visitors to go and buy from someone else. However, some publishers limit the companies whose ads they allow to appear to those selling complementary products. For example, a company selling babywear may allow adverts from companies selling strollers, car seats and baby feeding paraphernalia.

This makes plenty of sense but some online retailers don't limit whose ads they'll accept and will therefore end up publishing advertisements from direct competitors. Their argument is that if someone landed on their website through a Google search they would have been able to see their rivals in the search results anyway. True though that is, you won't find Canon cameras being advertised on Sony's website or L'Oreal products on Estee Lauder's.

While there is some doubt about online retailers publishing AdSense, it is surely a good supplementary service for other websites. For example, a website which provides a predominantly free service like an article directory can cover their costs and make a substantial profit if they have high levels of traffic. It is also popular among internet marketers and affiliate marketers and is can supplement their income from the products they promote. Some publishers don't promote any other product; they design and build their websites solely for the purpose of making money from AdSense.

A large number of publishers think that the options provided by AdSense contribute to a professional looking website with a wider appeal than just articles and affiliate products.

However, it can be frustrating for surfers when they click on an AdWords advert only to find that it leads to a page containing another list of ads. Google have been doing their best to address this problem as they don't want to be seen to support the practice, but they haven't always succeeded in the same way that they have tried to clean up the search results but I'm still find pages which are purely stuffed with keywords and absolutely no content appearing on page one.

I digress; in the main, AdSense is a useful tool which provides some websites with revenue so if you're asking "should I publish AdSense on my website?", I'd say that the answer is yes. After all, if you find that your visitors are leaving in droves via AdSense ads, either you're making your money that way or you can remove it from your site. Keep an eye on the statistics and all will become clear.

Helpful Automobile Services Offered By Most Insurance Companies

Many drivers have experienced car troubles that caused them to spend a couple of hours on the side of the road waiting for help to come along. Thanks to the cell phone and the kinds of additional benefits you can get from your auto coverage, the car trouble that may leave you stranded is not such a big issue anymore.

Most drivers know the importance and the peace that is associated with having auto coverage in place at the time of an accident. The money you could save could be substantial, especially if the other driver involved is hurt. The other vehicle may also have damages you would be responsible for as well. This is the greatest service your insurance policy offers you.

Other kinds of benefits come with maintain your coverage also. If your car is stalled and will not crank, consider the consequences if you have children or someone sick along with you. Making sure you are never left for too long on the roadway starts with adding towing services on your policy.

If your car is totaled or damaged enough in a wreck that you are unable to drive it, think about how no transportation can affect your life. You could lose your job if you are out too many days. Most people also cannot afford to lose time from their job. Be sure to have your agent explain about the part of your coverage that would cover the cost of a rental car.

The amount of your deductible is the part you will need to pay before damages on your vehicle are taken care of. The cost after your deductible amount is paid by your insurance company. However, you might think about talking to your company about the body shops they recommend in your area for getting the best work done.

Personal injury protection is an important type of coverage. However, you will need to talk to your agent to make it is added to your policy. This coverage would pay for loss of wages and medical bills accrued due to you being injured in an accident. Other expenses such as child care can also be paid through this coverage.

The car insurance services you need are necessary for you to maintain peace of mind. You never know when you may be involved in a wreck that could be life altering. Making sure you have adequate coverage for these times is important.

Repairing Software Patents

Often I will get a new client with a bad pending software patent application for a valuable invention. The invention is usually successful commercially, and solves a real problem. However, because the original patent application did not adequately describe the invention, the application is stuck in examination and a patent is unlikely to be allowed unless the claims are so narrowed as to render the resulting patent useless.

There are two main causes of this problem. First, the original application may not have used the wrong language in describing the invention. Inventors usually describe their inventions in terms of how they implemented the invention. As a result, they may use common terms for the data structures and algorithms that are employed to code the invention. When these common terms are examined as part of the patent application, the patent examiner usually finds a few dissimilar inventions that together include all of the common terms of the application's invention, but that perform different functions. The Examiner then rejects the application as obvious, and rightly so, because the language of the application hasn't captured the unique, patentable aspects of the invention.

A second cause of an application for a great invention being stuck is that the original application has captured only one level of depth for the invention. Patent applications should include multiple levels of detail for the key inventive elements, ranging from a high architectural level to several lower levels that describe implementation options. However, if only the high level description is included in the application, the claims of the application may be rejected as obvious in light of dissimilar inventions with similar a high-level architecture.

These defects don't have to be fatal to the patent prospects of a great invention. The original omissions can be corrected by filing a continuation-in-part application. The continuation-in-part application claims priority to the original application that it is correcting. The original drawings and descriptions are included, and all original material has the same effective filing date as the original application.

The continuation-in-part also includes new drawings and descriptions with the details needed to distinguish the invention from the inventions cited by the examiner. This new material has an effective filing date of the filing date for the continuation-in-part. Although this filing date is later, the new continuation-in-part application can have the properly structured descriptions and the multiple levels of detail that will support moving the application forward to allowance. As a result, a broad, valuable patent for the invention can be obtained.

Boat Insurance Company

One of the last things that you may think about when purchasing a boat is the fact that you'll need to obtain boat insurance. Quite like car insurance, there are several things to consider before deciding on which company to go with. You can also receive discounts if your boat contains the necessary safety equipment. This is something to keep in mind, especially if you've not yet purchased your boat.

Make sure that your boat has all the necessary safety features installed such as a fire extinguisher, emergency equipment, and various other security features. Having all of this equipment installed will help to lower your monthly premium. Be sure to let the insurance agent know about all of the features you have on your boat. You may have to mention this yourself, as many agents will not, especially since most are trained to make sure everyone pays top-dollar for their boat insurance.

Another thing that will influence how much your monthly premium will be is the age of your boat. If your boat is fairly new, you may end up having to pay a bit more per month. The difference in price in accordance to how new your boat is should not be too drastic. One of the reasons why insurance is lower for boats that are not so new is because as time progresses, boats tend to depreciate in value.

A major thing to consider before assuming how much you will pay for your insurance is whether or not you've had any previous accidents. Having accidents on your record will cause your premium to be much higher, depending on the nature of the accident and how many have occurred. If the accident was your fault, the price you pay will of course also be a bit higher than if you were not at fault.

The best way to find the right type of boat insurance is to simply call around or search online. You may even want to do both to make sure you end up with the best price. Keep in mind that not everyone pays the same amount for insurance so what one of your relatives pays for his brand new ship may not be the same as what you will pay for a similar ship. You may end up having to pay hundreds more per month than someone you know because of an accident or lack of safety features.

Make sure that you receive quotes from more than one place when searching. You will receive different prices from each company because they all have different policies, so it is best if you contact as many places as possible. Have a pen and paper handy so that you can write down the quotes you receive from each company you contact. Doing this will also make it much easier to compare prices.

Once you are insured, you may want to consider getting the necessary safety features installed if you do not have them. You can always call back once you've got the features installed and qualify for a much more discounted rate. You might also qualify for a tax exemption if you take all the necessary steps.

There are a lot more boats out on the water than you may think, especially in the spring and summer months. A huge disadvantage to operating a boat is that there are no red lights or stop signs. There are boat patrolmen, however, that help to control the amount of traffic on the water, the speed at which people are going, and they're also there to help people when they've been in boating accidents. Many of them will also check to see if there are any drugs and alcohol on the boat. If any drugs and alcohol are detected, most of the time the boat and everyone on board will be asked to leave immediately and they will also be fined. If by chance there is no boat insurance, quite a huge fine will also be given.

How To Improve The Strength of Your Vagina Muscles So That Your Vagina Becomes Tighter

Bringing a child into this world is a wonderful thing. But unfortunately for some women who have done this process several times, there's a negative side effect. This is the loosening of the vagina. The vagina is similar to an elastic band. It can stretch and then return to its original form if it is not stretched too far. However, if it is stretched beyond its limits it will not return to its original form quite easily. Having several children can cause this problem for most women.

The problem with having a loose vagina is that it can cause most women to not achieve an orgasm because it can be hard for their partner to stimulate the sensitive areas of their vagina effectively. A growing number of women are having this problem and the sad fact is that it can lead to more devastating problems such as broken relationships.

How Can A Women Remedy A Loose Vagina?

If you have a loose vagina then there are several routes you can take to fix this problem. You can try vaginal sprays, kegels exercises or you can do a surgery.

I would however recommend that you opt for the kegel exercise instead of spending on the sprays or surgery. Other than being expensive, they may lead to other diverse problems which may put you in a far worse position than you are in now.

Benefits of Doing Kegels Exercise

Doing the kegels exercise will strengthen the pelvic floor muscles and prevent common problems associated with weak pelvic muscles such as:

1. Leakage of a few drops of urine while coughing, laughing or sneezing. 2. Leakage of stool. 3. Being unable to hold your urine for long periods of time. 4. Being unable to achieve powerful orgasms.

When Is The Best Time To Do The Exercise?

One of the good thing about performing the kegel exercise is that you can do it at anywhere and anytime you want. You do not require any special equipment, any creams or gels or any specific conditions. So if privacy is one thing that you are worried about then you will love the kegel method of tightening your vagina. No one will ever know that you are doing them and your partner will be amazed when he realize the change in your vagina.

How To Do The Kegel Exercise

The first thing you want to do is to identify which muscle you'll be targeting. This is very easy to do. Simply go to the bathroom to urinate and then try to stop your urine midway before you are done. The muscles you use to stop your urine is the same muscles that you will target to tighten your vagina.

You want to do the same action that you did to stop your urine midway. However, you will go a bit further by tightening to squeeze and holding it for 15-20 seconds before letting go. Do this process 3-4 times for one workout session. For best results, do a workout at least 3 times per day and 5 days per week.

You'll find that the exercise will be a bit challenging your first week. However, as your vagina gets stronger and tighter they will become easier to perform. Then you can increase the hold time and the amount of repetitions you do.

Having a loose vagina is not the end of the world. By simply doing the kegels exercise you can strengthen you vagina muscles and make your vagina tighter and thus please your partner while having explosive orgasms yourself. So if you were worrying its time to stop and start doing your kegel workouts today.

Personal Emergency Response Systems Reduce Anxiety In Seniors

Many seniors face added challenges both in regards to various medical conditions and also when it comes to normal day-to-day activities. Seniors that are at-risk for a medical emergency should not be left alone even if they are able to fully function on their own. Seniors may also begin to restrict their activity levels to prevent overexertion that could lead to a medical emergency. The anxiety that can build in seniors who live alone or seniors who spend a lot of time alone can become overwhelming for the senior and their loved ones.

The Health Effects of Anxiety

Heightened levels of anxiety and psychological tension in seniors can cause numerous additional health issues. When seniors become flooded with thoughts of potentially having to move out of their homes, or when they worry about having a stroke, falling, or being alone in any other emergency, their stress levels begin to rise. Stress is harmful for individuals of all ages, but it can be especially dangerous for seniors. Anxiety and psychological tension in seniors can have adverse health effects on the immune system and memory, and reduce the overall quality of life. Fortunately, personal emergency response systems have revolutionized the ways in which a senior can spend their golden years.

The Role of Emergency Response Systems in Reducing Anxiety in Seniors

Personal emergency response systems and medical alert services are able to provide seniors and their families peace of mind by acting as a constant companion to the senior. No matter what the situation entails help is ready and available with just a touch of a button. This is accomplished easily through an in-home medical alert system. By simply touching a button on a wristband or necklace-like pendant a senior is quickly connected to a representative from the care center. Representatives are highly trained and will contact a family member, a friend, a doctor or a local 9-1-1 medical service and will remain on the line until help arrives. This kind of security helps alleviate anxiety and psychological tension.

Anxiety is alleviated for seniors and family members when a secure safety net and medical alert system is in place. Seniors who have certain medical conditions or disabilities, that put them at-risk when they are alone, will benefit greatly by having access to support at any time of the day or night through a medical alert system. Most family members are willing to go considerable lengths to care for their loved ones, but the reality is that they are usually not available 24/7. Personal safety and peace of mind for seniors who live alone are achieved when security is provided for many different situations.

An unexpected intruder, feelings of dizziness, arriving home after dark, inclement weather, ascending & descending stairs, and many other factors play a role in the anxiety in seniors. Personal emergency response systems are not only beneficial to those with concerning medical conditions, but they are also valuable for seniors who would simply feel more comfortable by having immediate help at their disposal. A senior who is experiencing an emergency, discomfort or unease in anyway and does not know if a family member or neighbor is available to help, can call the personal emergency response care center and be connected to a friendly and caring representative within seconds.

The stress and anxiety that can burden seniors and their family members is unhealthy and unnecessary. It is important that a senior living alone be able to maintain the best quality of life possible. The security of knowing a professional, medical alert service provider is the touch of a button away is priceless. Alleviating this anxiety and tension has never been so easy. Personal emergency response systems are an inexpensive way to provide seniors and their families with peace of mind and invaluable security.

Tracking and Measuring Relative Humidity

In labs and other environments that require a very specific level of relative humidity (RH), careful precaution must be taken when regulating the environmental conditions. Biological incubation and pharmaceutical studies are examples of this type of environment. Even slight RH changes have a dramatic impact on the product or results.

When RH is critical to a process, it must be carefully tracked and measured. Even storage and shipping parts of the process must be monitored to ensure consistency. If not regulated properly, the productivity, quality and cost of a process can be negatively affected.

One way to keep track of RH is the use of humidity data loggers. These compact tools allow for the continuous measurement of RH during the entire production or research process. Humidity data loggers can help prevent costly mistakes, saving both time and money. From beginning to end, these valuable instruments can help you achieve precise conditions during a critical production process.

If you are considering humidity data logging equipment, there are a few important things to consider. The right data logger can make a big difference in improving your processes. A quality logger will also save you time and frustration.

Proper Certifications First, any data logger you choose should come from a manufacturer that is properly certified and meets necessary standards for their products. There is peace of mind knowing that your data logging device will be safe and reliable in any environment it needs to be used.

Humidity data loggers should have ATEX certification for intrinsic safety. They should also be certified as an FCC Class B digital device. And perhaps most importantly, the software for any data logger should be FDA 21CFR Part 11 Compliant. If RH levels are critical in your production process, be sure your logger is of the highest quality and standards.

Ease of Use For maximum efficiency and to get the most out of your humidity data logger, make sure all aspects require little training and are easy to use. The unit should be small in size and wire-free. This will allow you to place it as close to the product as possible, giving you the most accurate results.

The accompanying software should also be user-friendly. This will save you time and speed up the data gathering process. You may also want to consider a radio frequency data logger to help speed up data collection. This type of device will continually collect data, giving it to you in real time.

Flexible Application Next, make sure your humidity data logging device can be used in the environments in which you will need it. High quality data loggers can be used in a wide range of temperature and environmental conditions. It should also be applicable to any number of processes in which you will need to use it.

To be even more flexible, you may want a humidity logger that is compatible with other types of data logging equipment. If your production process will require a number of loggers, it will be important that they are all compatible with a single software interface.

Tracking and measuring RH can be critical in a sensitive production or study process. When exact results are required, don't take any chances. Implement a humidity data logger into your system and achieve the best possible results.

Insurance Agents STOP - Answer Your Biggest Question About Finding New Clients

Today I am speaking to all insurance agents about the biggest concern regarding building your business and that is - how to prospect for new clients in today's new marketing environment? Agents of the past conducted all their appointments in person, face to face, belly to belly and sitting at the kitchen table. It was also common business practice to work a neighborhood. If an agent had an appointment with one resident after that appointment they would work that same community and go door to door and try to sell more insurance. They would even collect monthly premiums going door to door.

Some of the old school agents still work this way and new agents entering the insurance industry are being taught these same old methods.

There is however a new breed of agents that are raising their game and implementing new social media marketing strategies. I can speak from experience because I'm one of them. Years ago when I entered the insurance industry I first took a job with a national big name carrier as a captive agent. Two days a week they had me wasting my time calling what they claimed to be hot leads. The truth was those leads were DEAD! The first three weeks working for that major carrier I wasted two days a week in the office calling DEAD leads. The fourth week I quit!

Intrigued by the idea of starting my own agency I decided to work toward being an independent agent. Still a newbie and very green I called the only person I knew that was in the insurance business. It happened to be an old friend of my father who was one of those old school agents I talked about above. He was very excited to hear I was in the business and offered to work with me the following week. I had no idea what he had in mind but we ended up going door to door cold calling. We did this from sun up to sun down for an entire week. We sold 3 policies that we split the commission 50/50. I told myself if this is what I had to look forward to I would look for a new career.

Well to make a long story short - over time I incorporated social media marketing strategies and techniques in my business model. I receive leads from social media techniques I've incorporated and transact all my business online. Most all carriers have online agent site where you can do online applications...and that's what I do 100%. No more going to no-show appointments, wear and tear on my car and paying for gas unnecessarily.

If more of your business is using the old model try some of the new online marketing strategies it will make a huge impact on your insurance business.

Podcasts - The Radio of the Future?

I don't know why but every so often, some one will try to promote their product by saying it's going to replace something. That the old is an obsolete tech and will go the way of the dinosaurs.

Podcasts are like that. In many ways they've grown out of radio broadcasting. And every once in a while someone will get on their high horse and claim that radio will be killed by podcasting.

Ain't gonna happen!

Claims like that really only show the lack of understanding of what a podcast is and where it fits. It ignores the audience. And it ignores the subject or topic of the broadcast. Now keep in mind I'm talking about podcasting here. Not just making recordings of earlier broadcasts available over the internet.

Modern radio is an entertainment media. Its focus -- no matter the format -- is on keeping the audience entertained. That's why it tends towards snappy, high energy DJ's and announcers. That's why it focuses on controversial talk radio. It is intended to keep people engaged on an emotional level. Not on an intellectual level.

Podcasts on the other hand have become an educational media. In fact, with only a few early hiccups they always have been. People who are customers for podcasts are looking to fill their time with something useful. That's why they go to the trouble of downloading the podcast. Satellite radio, regular radio even web-radio is much easier to listen to. It takes less effort. Why go to the effort of downloading entertainment when "live" is much easier.

That's also why music is the preferred format for radio. Whether it's rock, pop, folk, classical or country. Or mixed. Most of the modern radio is music. Yes, there is talk radio. Yes, there is sports broadcasting. Yes, there is news. But the vast majority of the airwaves -- literal, satellite or virtual -- is taken up with music.

But the preferred format -- almost literally the exclusive format -- for podcasts is education. It may be lecture, seminar, interview, or audio magazine. But the content is almost always educational.

Podcasting and radio serve two different markets. One focused on entertainment and music. Mindless amusement if you prefer. The other is focused on improving the mind and filling otherwise wasted time with something useful. Confusing the two will result in a podcast that just doesn't satisfy its market. A podcast that will ultimately fail.

Now, who turned down my radio?

It's So Easy for Special-Needs Parents to Get Off-Balance

You are so busy with everyday life. And, with your special-needs parenting duties, you're running faster and faster trying to keep up with the merry-go-round of life.

There are times you manage to jump on and ride, but the merry-go-round speeds up with additional problems, and now you're just trying to hold on, hoping not to fall off.

It's so important for special-needs parents to prepare themselves for the day ahead.

One of the best ways is to get up before the rest of the family. Yes, I know you're exhausted, and just 15 minutes or a half-hour of sleep sounds so good. But, there is often a price you pay.

The price is your peace of mind.

Getting up to just to mentally prepare yourself for the day, gives you this advantage.

And, if you can use that time, to sit and spiritually prepare yourself, you are way ahead of the game of life.

How?

Get up, wash your face, and if you have to, get a cup of coffee or tea.

Sit down and read a spiritual book, or some uplifting inspirational messages.

Next, put the book and coffee/tea down and just observe your breath. Be the witness to your breath by watching the sensations in your body as your breath goes in and out of your body. This helps to bring you into the present moment which is powerful.

Don't try to control the breath,

just observe it.

Do this through-out the day, while you're:

waiting to pick up your child from school

sitting in your child's medical or therapist office

sitting by your child's hospital bedside

waiting at a red light (riding in a car or walking)

Your breath is a built in de-stressor. It will bring you quickly back to the present moment. In the present moment is where you will find space from your thoughts and emotions that can be overwhelming raising a special-needs child.

Since you must be at times super vigilant for your child, you can easily lose yourself in the process. Observing your breathing can bring you back in balance.

Emotions such as fear and anger set your mind spinning like the merry-g0-round on high speed, but you don't have to spin out of control yourself.

Be a witness to your breath. You don't have to be run by the egoic-mind, the mind that runs wild with a constant stream of thoughts that keep you spinning. Observing your breath can give you the space to calm down and be in the moment. In that space, you will find a sense of power, peace and inner wisdom.

You will know exactly what to do for your child, at the right time. And, you will know how to care for yourself.

Critical Factors to Consider When Leaving an Inheritance to Children Or Grandchildren

Although plenty of people understand the importance of leaving an inheritance to their children or grandchildren, few have procedures in place to ensure proper money management. The benefit of planning is that it helps you maximize the assets your loved ones receive when you can't provide for them. Below are several financial factors you must consider when leaving an economic legacy.

First, all assets left to a minor must be held by a guardian or placed in a trust because minors can't legally hold and manage inherited money. While directing that your money will be held by your child's guardian seems intuitive, it can actually cause many problems. Assets held by guardians are subject to strict and burdensome court supervision. As a result, expensive legal fees and time-consuming court procedures can make it difficult for the guardian access the money and use it for the benefit of your child or grandchild when they need it.

What about your life insurance or retirement accounts? Unfortunately, directly naming a minor as beneficiary of these assets is risky. The insurance company or brokerage house could hold the assets until the child turns 18 and then turn it over to the child directly. Many companies won't even release funds to a surviving parent for safekeeping and management without a time-consuming and expensive court decree.

One alternative is an UTMA (Uniform Transfers to Minors Act) account. Controlled by state law, these accounts hold money given to minors. The account is legally owned by the minor (it even includes his/her Social Security number) but the management and access is controlled by the custodian you choose until the child turns 21 - or other age specified by state law.

The UTMA account is a great vehicle, but it raises an important question: Do you believe in your child or grandchild's ability to manage a large sum of cash at 21? Will that money go to college tuition or a Ferrari and a month in Las Vegas?

If you prefer having your funds held until your child or grandchild is well into adulthood, then an "inheritance trust" is a smart option. A trust allows you to control the use and distribution of your assets after you're gone. You choose a trustee (who can be a friend, family member, adviser or financial institution) who will oversee the funds and use them for your child or grandchild's health, education and support. Assets held in the trust are protected from poor spending habits, lawsuits, creditors and divorce. The trust funds will be turned over to your child or grandchild directly at the age your designate, which could be 25 or 30, or even later.
